Alpha Protocol Review

Friday, May 28th, 2010

Our test for Alpha Protocol has shown that the RPG from Sega and Obsidian Entertainment a wild roller coaster ride in the style of 24 or The Bourne Identity. The game you skin your decisions, especially later in the game, relentlessly around the ears. The Gameply is incredibly diverse and is changing so rapidly that a second or third play through complete risk assessment. The dialogue and characters are also imaginative and entertaining. Technically, you have to do with Alpha Protocol, however, compromises. The graphics are sharp and partly out of date, the save point system is a nuisance and the artificial intelligence has not earned its name many times. Which are in themselves permanently annoying mini-games on the PC also the main frustration point where they are clearly designed to operate with the gamepad. Nevertheless, Alpha Protocol is a thoroughly enjoyable RPG with amazing choice and varied gameplay.

Positive:

Relationships with NPCs drift to the extreme. In the course of the game we would have had the opportunity to execute this lady. As their confidence in us now is very high, however, results in a completely different situation. Relationships with NPCs drift to the extreme. In the course of the game we would have had the opportunity to execute this lady. As their confidence in us now is very high, however, results in a completely different situation. Story, characters and atmosphere: Who is on Jack Bauer and James Bond, with Michael Thorton directly warm. The story presents itself as a genuine agent thriller, waiting time and again with surprises. You never know who you can trust and just rush through half the world to come to a big conspiracy on the ropes. The characters must be taken that you sometimes bizarre but always credible and enrich the gameplay noticeably. With well-written dialogues and cutscenes in the game graphics Alpha Protocol also holds the high tension constant and thus very well tastes with entertainment. Since it does not interfere, that the total of 130 hours are available only as an English voice dialogue with German subtitles.

Decisions and freedom: Alpha Protocol gives you the choice in almost all missions, like what to do. You can steal, shoot or yap, proceed with technical finesse or enter the brutal thugs. Thus, every mission is unique and varied. At the same time makes itself bermekbar at any point, what a crass impact your decisions have time and again. The nice lady or save a museum full of tourists? The arms dealer shot or pardon? The guards by moving or persuade? Always keep your Alpha Protocol against your decisions as a mirror, the game and mission changed the course depending on what choice you have made. This motivates and contributes significantly to the fascination of the title. So it pays to just under 30 hours after the passage of the first game again to start over.

Character development: even as a true RPG Alpha Protocol is reflected well. For each successful action, you get experience points, which lead to level up. More points in a particular skill will affect appreciably. If you are inexperienced in dealing with assault rifles, you will meet very little. Invest enough points but, Thorton shoots noticeably better. The same applies to melee – or technical skills. So you always have the feeling that your agent to develop continuously. At the same time gives you Alpha Protocol always small successes in the form of so-called benefits. Who unseen enemies overwhelmed as 75, moves in a row, 20 percent quieter. As reports emerge about such benefits by the minute at the bottom of the screen, motivate them to cope with a mission very well.

Items and Outside Employment: Alpha Protocol gives your hero a lot of armor, weapons and gadgets. These can be found either in the missions or buy between use of a dealer. For armor and weapons you also buy upgrades in several stages. The pros and cons of a purchase to be balanced neatly on a menu with the newly created piece of equipment. Especially the variety of items from Alpha Protocol makes a much deeper role than, say, Mass Effect 2, even though both rely heavily on Title Action. In addition, make clear the nature of the game Aurüstung noticeable when you distract enemies, for example by Täuschsensor or thanks to defense upgrade Lockpicking a breeze. Who even wants to go deeper into story and gameplay, for the Obsidian Entertainment has built an e-mail and file system that you always get information about characters and factions, and you can even sell information to retract money. A nice sideline which in turn affects the story and your relationship with other characters.

Varied environments: Alpha Protocol sends you, no agent in movie style, through the world history. Does the first chapter in Saudi Arabia, you are free in the sequel, which of the three venues Rome, Taipei and Moscow visit next. The environments are very diverse and always provide surprises. Time you’re on a luxury yacht to instigate a shooting, sometimes you infiltrate the house of an underworld boss who is really into cheesy 80’s decorations, sometimes you assassinate in Rome by an excavation site. The individual levels are carefully designed and detailed and are constantly a general enlightenment.

Artificial Intelligence: Especially in an RPG, which strongly relies on stealth and shootings, one should hope for a good artificial intelligence. Unfortunately, Alpha Protocol not score points here. Time and again, you enemies are running directly in front of the gun or hang down in a corner of the game world. Go to the right place to take cover, you can even rows opponent can do, since these remain standing at a certain point and shoot himself unhesitatingly.

Mini Games: In order to crack locks, hack, or to bridge terminals, you must master one of three mini-games that will be later in the game harder. Soon these small nerves deposits. This is mainly due to the lack of implementation of console to PC. Use the balance for example on the console or the trigger to the individual cylinders of a castle, slide your mouse on the PC up and down. Because these mini-games often need to come on at some points of frustration when, for the thousandth time by an unsuccessful attempt by the alarm goes off. Fortunately, you can connect an optional but gamepad to play it.

Obsolete Technology: Graphic Alpha Protocol is not on the amount of time. Textures, especially on floors or on walls, and see detailarm washed out. Characters and objects are also extreme for the present square. In cutscenes, however the faces of the characters come across well. The blurring effect of the obsidian used to indicate flashbacks, looks strange. The animations of the main character, especially in stealth effect, silly.

Jumping, climbing, camouflage, storage: Some minor points to annoy Alpha Protocol. You may climb or jump only at certain points, which in times of Splinter Cell: Conviction and Assassin’s Creed has plenty of two antiquated. Who wants more action in Covert, who is annoyed that there is no screen display that tells you whether you are just disguised. For PC disciples is also annoying that you can not save free but on by the program set relatively fair, save points are dependent.

Short for Alpha Protocol:

- Alpha Protocol relies on the DRM protection Uniloc. You must enable deas game once online and then you can play offline. This goes on up to five different computers. The individual activations can be undone.
- Alpha Protocol is a purely single-player role-playing, there’s no multiplayer mode.
- Hardware requirements:

Top F2P MMORPGs in 2010

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Not a year goes by in the MMORPG world when we do not see MMOs rising to the top and some falling hard to the ground. This year proves to be no different with highly anticipated expansions such as Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft Cataclysm. There are some new and innovative games hitting the market as well such as Lego Universe and Star Wars, based on the movie and the highly distinguished single player game.  Even the no download MMORPGs are so popular these days, So come with me as we jump into the world of MMORPGs coming for 2010.

1 Guild Wars 2

This new game follows up the acclaimed Guild Wars 1, taking a similar path of intense combat and simple fun with friends. Thus far, much information has been released on it, classes, races, environment and the most important, combat. The elementalist is the only class revealed and proves to be weak in defense but extremely powerful in attack wielding the power of nature. There are five races, which have their unique starting areas and pros and cons which will affect each class. The environment in Guild Wars 2 will be beautiful and flowing as players will join together to take on this new world. The combat will be the best part of the game as it is simple, fun and rewarding as players can use magic and weapons to defeat opponents. It will follow the same model as Guild Wars 1 meaning it is Buy To Play, so look out for Guild Wars 2 in your stores soon.

2 Star Wars The Old Republic

Star Wars The Old Republic is considered to be one of the greatest single player RPGs ever to hit us, and now, we will be struck with a lightsaber through our heart as we are now getting Star Wars the Old Republic in MMO form, where we can fight together to kill the Sith or even take down the Jedi. The environment is taken from the old game as well as the movie. There are 8 classes in all, each with their own pros and cons. The Jedi side has the Trooper, Smuggler,Jedi Knight and the Jedi Consular. The Sith has its own classes, the Bounty Hunter, Sith Warrior, Imperial Agent and Sith Inquisitor. The game is set to be P2P as far as the news goes and the Death Star will be hovering over our computers in 2011.

3 World of Warcraft Cataclysm

Cataclysm is set to take on an entirely new turn of events in Azeroth where we see both the alliance and the Horde getting a new race, the goblin and the worgen. It also shows Azeroth in a totally new environment, where the Burning Steppes was full of evil, it is now full of lush green grass and joy meanwhile places of good are decimated. It is set to be the pinnacle of the most played MMO to date and will bring new roleplayers to World of Warcraft. The two new races are important factors in this. In the story, it is said that all the world was burnt to ashes by a master dragon and who will need the horde and alliance to stop his strong force. The goblins are thieves and scoundrels but since their home is taken away and they find a new enemy in the alliance, the worgen, they are invited with open arms by the horde. The worgen is a mixture of wolf and beast and is able to transform to a wolf in the middle of combat. Their history is long and great and they have founded a new enemy and so have joined the alliance to fight. This expansion promises to be great, so don’t miss out.

Red Dead Redemption Review

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

The Old West disappears, machines make their way into the godless country and the government insists its laws to the public and let anyone who will listen not just disappear. It’s no time when you want to end up? Error. Red Dead Redemption like no other game lets you play cowboy and decide what is good or bad. Dip in the unique atmosphere as only Rockstar can bring them to life.

Red Dead Redemption is the sequel to Red Dead Revolver that appeared in 2004 and took place in the Wild West of 1880. This new title is a sequel, it does not go where the game stopped Revolver: a half century we go further in time and follow the story of John Marston, an ordinary man who wants nothing more than an ordinary life. But before he can, he must deal with ghosts from his past. In a previous life was a heartless man bandit with one of the most dangerous gangs in the Wild West inspired fear among the local population. This brought a lot of money, but was obviously not a job without danger. John experienced this firsthand when an attack error ends: he gets a bullet in the head by his gang and left for dead.

This realizes the man that life is too short, and settles himself with wife and child in a farm on the future as an honest man by the life going. This is outside the government counted at the beginning of the twentieth century on the rise in the Old West to the control over the lawless country get. As John meereed the notorious gang, he is the perfect person to hunt down his old comrades. Marston refuses initially, but will still apply if the government decides to John’s wife and son to abduct. Thick against his will and under the supervision of two government officials, John by boat to the game world of Red Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption

Barfights and corrupt Mexicans

Before you can do it yourself, get your first few movies to see how John the train ride to the first town, and immediately draws toward its first target. Because the man is new in the area, he has no proper arms in his pocket and the first encounter with a former gang member is therefore a mistake away. John catches a few bullets and wakes up a few days later in a farm of people who have rescued him. That really starts for you and you are initiated into the life of real cowboys. Although you can immediately explore the vast plains, it pays to the simple farm missions like the shooting of rabbits and foxes, to do first in order to become familiar with the control of the game.

The Wild West where you land is divided into three huge areas: The Frontier, Mexico and The Great Plains, this play in that order. Each of these areas has characteristics that make for very some variety. You start at The Frontier, an area that typically brings Wild West as we know from the movies: vast arid plains, ghost towns and a cozy lounge with regular raw barfights outbreak. Mexico sends you back a feeling unsafe because of the many drunk bandits in a corrupt country to survive. In the third section, “The Great Plains,” it is clear that the Industrial Revolution is a fact: paved streets and even the occasional car to give the inhabitants of the cities in that area a false sense of security. Unjustified because the original inhabitants – the Indians if you want to call them so – sneaking through the surrounding woods and want their country back.

Smart horses

Yourself safely through the enormous game world to move the game offers various modes of transport to: coaches, trains and of course horses. Each horse in the game is unique and has different properties: some have a better stamina, others run faster, but the important thing is that every horse has a set of brains that they have smart decisions. Developers like to create with the fact that their AI is the smartest and best it has been established, but often this is not true. In this case, may I reassure you while shooting fights many have the brains of your horse, because the beast is not a blind with obstacles, but there will always be beautiful to walk around, making your own two hands free for you to concentrate on the shooting itself. Drive your group during a mission in the game will then automatically works to keep your horse the best rate continues, so you can keep the rest. If we compare to GTA IV: Episodes From Liberty City, we know that the Lost biker gang was not possible, and it was sometimes difficult to convoy driving. It belongs to the past and that makes it much easier for the conversations of the other cowboys to follow along.

You choose to go by train, then you stop at one of the few stations and exercise patience, because the trains in real time across the landscape. Once you sit can you choose yourself to put down a window or just walking through the cars From the roof or on unsuspecting passers-by shooting. Is this necessary? No, but it will help to the gameplay and atmosphere of the game. Just a fast moving train driver himself jumping or playing is also not an option, unless the mission requires a special and one action button to the gameplay adds.

Red Dead Redemption

Dead Eye

But then to suddenly move forward on the control of the game: it was kept simple and this is only the game but not good. In no time you have the hang of how fast you can draw your weapons and how to shoot the horse fights between the best ball guides. The arsenal is very extensive, which is not very logical if you know the game takes place in a time when shooting are fighting everyday. In a simple but clear menu select with the joystick rapidly from including pistols, sniper rifles and shotguns. Because not all the weapons at that time were equally accurate, it pays to delay the Dead Eye meter filled by making enemies. This feature will return from Red Dead Revolver and in slow motion makes you shoot at the enemies. With enhanced physics, these enemies a lot better against the plain, you see clearly where they really hurt, and after a well-aimed headshot you will often see your victim’s hat flies a completely different direction. The people who do not shoot so well can still enjoy the lasso, one of the best “weapons” in this game. This tie down your enemies and you can put them behind your horse in order to deliver to local sheriffs, or put them on a railway train and wait for the overtake.

The missions themselves take you through the entire game and provide enough variety, so the game never gets boring. Auditors also here that any time you can engage in a zijmissie huge game world. I’m talking of course about the random events that are also non scripted. The game world is evolving constantly so therefore, if you happen to encounter an ambush, just play with and the enemies best finish. You deserve it most probably a pretty penny, and the next time you pass the same spot, the trap also gone. During my entire play session, I am never the same random event encountered, as surely an impressive achievement and makes you wonder how many events the game does not contain.

Besides these zijmissies is the world full of wild animals who do their own thing, until you intervene. Thus the killing of rabbits and other small game are rewarded with experience points, and the meat is collected by most merchants in cities adopted. In the same cities, you can also find new medicines and items for your character. John begins with a typical cowboy outfit and although I find it cool enough to take the whole game to survive, you can buy new costumes, or unlocked by doing small challenges. In the menu you get in different clothes a clear explanation of what you have to do and this can range from finding a treasure, to the killing of a hostile setting. If you decide to include in the villages to buy new weapons like you should consider the portfolio because it is not as thick as for example in Grand Theft Auto IV. Not count on you at the end of the game millionaire.

Wonderful soundtrack

What you do not count on the help of various characters who accompany you throughout the game. Two of them continue to provide you with: Irish, a drunken Irishman who loves to dig seem to have depth have conversation, and Nigel West Dickens. This seller of dubious medicines needs your help often needed for its wares to get. He knows himself well enough because he only sells junk and are often chased by villagers highlighted. Thanks to its strong cast and an eye for detail, every character in every detail worked out and you believe their role in the larger whole. Can you, like me, enjoy a great piece of music in games, then Red Dead Redemption definitely be your thing. The music was composed by Bill Elm and Woody Jackson, who has almost an emotional touch to give. These ensure that the atmosphere of the dying American West and Mexico at the end of the century is quite good. That the music was made on authentic instruments from that period is certainly an important role. Here ends the list of artists do not: Jamie Lidell, Jose Gonzalez, Ashtar Command and William Elliot Whitmore bring their finest songs to the Wild West. Real song will only hear a few moments in the game, which is very nice were chosen. How or when verklap I do not, because that is up to you discover and experience. I can only tell you that several times with goosebumps behind your screen when tethered one of the great songs start playing.

Red Dead Redemption

Go online

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the game is the multiplayer well worked throughout the country in which you have available and an unprecedented freedom. I’m talking about “Free Roam”, a huge lobby, as it were, ie where your boat, or a posse forms with seven other players for a multiplayer game mode. People with little creativity will no doubt immediately before the second, especially when I can just have fun with doing nothing. You decide whether you in Free Roam towns unsafe, then the local sheriffs trying to escape, to search for other players to such a cup or less to work with them to combat crime. This gives you points that your character in the rankings can be raised and upgrades for your character is free to play.

The menu layout is similar to that of the single player and players to promote as soon as possible leveling, you will get from the start played the unreleased game modes to see. These different game modes to play all happens in the world of Dead Red Redemption. It therefore does well to first go through the story. So you learn the various locations and know everything you know where the best places for the multiplayer violence to survive.

The Wild West is a setting that has inspired many a film maker and is obviously also suitable for video games. The world is on an impressive show and during my playing session I had no problems with frame drops or pop-ups, like in GTA IV was the case. When you get to a mountain, you can see for miles and the only reason why this sometimes blurred, by the heat of the country rises. Enhanced RAGE engine clearly true overtime. People who rely on a superior platform, I must disappoint: The game looks almost identical on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The only difference is that the game at night looks better on the PlayStation 3 because it really dark. During the day the Xbox 360 then get some advantages by the bright colors. But this is nitpicking here and in my opinion, nobody is awake. Where you do not bother with that weather effects are stunning and the puddles that remain after a long heavy rain.

Arcania: Gothic IV 4

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

PCGamepost has amazingly got the upcoming sequel to the Gothic series, a role-playing game has been popular since 2001. The story takes place in a dark fantasy world where the nameless adventure and eventually becomes a skillful archer, mighty warrior, or powerful wizard while avoiding the perils of being slain by an orc. Perhaps even more sadly, the previous game in the series, Gothic 3, was released with noticeable technical issues, despite the fact that the game also took on an ambitious graphical overhaul. Now, the series is back with a new developer, Spellbound, and a new chapter: Arcania: Gothic 4 Arcania will have a new nameless hero, a new story, and a new home–whereas the previous games were for the PC only, Arcania will also appear on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.

The Gothic series has undergone big changes in recent times. For the first three iterations, the open-world role-playing fantasy franchise was for the PC crowd only. More specifically, it was built for the type of gamer that dislikes direction, catering more to those who liked making their own decisions, exploring and discovering new lands and mechanics at their own pace. It wasn’t user friendly, but developed a strong user base, to the point where fans continued to patch the tragically underdeveloped Gothic 3 after developer Piranha Bytes had been moved on.
